When we communicate assertively– that is, honestly, openly, and respectfully, we set the stage for honest, open, and respectful relationships. Otherwise we risk people not listening to us or our needs or resenting us, feeling defensive, or feeling dismissed.
Your experience is important so let’s make sure it's being heard. Today we’ll talk about the 4 types of communication styles and how they can help or hurt a relationship:
Passive
Dishonest, disrespectful
Can build resentment towards others
Aggressive
Can be perceived as honest but oftentimes is not and is disrespectful.
Others build resentment towards us for feeling dismissed

It may feel like you are being mean or cold or b*tchy but the truth is that it feels wrong because you are not used to it. You have been taught for so long to be passive and ignore your needs. But that just doesn't work, does it?
