It's that time of year when you make that list of all the things you want to learn/change this year and forget about it in a few weeks.
Reasons Your Resolutions Might Not Work:
1. They Are Not Internally Motivated
You may have picked an externally motivated goal and which then depends
on how others think about you or perceive you .It does not align with who you
want to be or the life you want to lead
2. They Are Not Realistic
You are aiming to go from 0-100. If its not something you have ever done or
kept up, you cannot expect to be able to do so on Jan 1.
3. You Don't Have a Plan
Even if it is something you have the ability to accomplish, you may not have a
plan on how to achieve your goals and know if you are headed in the right
direction.
Creating smaller goals will help you with momentum and motivation
4. They Are Not Celebrated
You forget to celebrate your small wins. It makes it feel like its just one never
ending road with no breaks. It’s always ok to breathe, take a look around, and
rest.
5. You Don't Have a Support System
You don't have an accountability partner or someone to cheer you on.
What to do?
Take some time to reflect on what is important to you and eliminate goals/resolutions that do not align with that
Start small set markers for celebration every time you reach one small step
Consider setting intentions rather than resolutions.
